Lee Valley 9th March – £6.3 million Olympic legacy project underway.

Lee Valley PavillionMy first Lee Valley session of the year, an hours paddle on the Olympic course. It felt cold when I loaded the boat in the car, so cold I could see my breath, so I decided not to take the squirt boat.
When we got there we had to turn right and park in a tempory carpark due to building works, I found out the center has a £6.3 million Olympic legacy project underway.

The development project includes building:

  • First class facilities for athletes with a state of the art gym and physiotherapy suite housed in an extension to the existing centre. This extension will also include meeting rooms and offices for the British Canoe union (BCU), the sport’s National Governing Body.
  • A new outdoor classroom, more catering provision and extra space to find shade, shelter and seating in a stylish new pavilion overlooking the Olympic Standard Competition Course.
  • More changing rooms which will increase the capacity for rafting and paddling at peak times.
  • Additional car parking and toilets to better accommodate a very busy and popular sports venue/visitor attraction.
