Wet and Wild Weekend in Devon

The weekend before the biggest storm of the year to hit the UK we visited Woolacombe for a weekend of surfing, and also managed to visit meet up with friends from Whitewater Action Medway who were paddling on the river Barle.

Fridays Surf was 2-3ft with a strong cross shore wind that slowly built to a point that wasn’t nice to paddle in by the time some of the guys from WAM got on, but on saturday the wind had moved cross on shore and the surf built to a nice 5-6ft, and made for a great days surfing with Chris.

Sun, Surf and Cupcakes

After waiting until the Wednesday before May Bank Holiday weekend for the weather forecast we decided to head to Woolacombe for a long weekend of sun, surf and cupcakes.
After a visit to Barnstable farmers market and the Fancy That cupcake stall, we headed in to woolacombe where there was no surf at all, so off to the pub we went for some dinner and a couple of pints of Cornish Rattler Cider, boy is that stuff strong.
On Saturday we awoke to fairly high winds and messy surf, after spending the day on the beach we sat watching the sunset eating fish and chips.
Sunday was totally different clean 4-5ft surf and sunshine, so much sun we both got burnt.
Monday again was a beautiful day, with slightly smaller surf 3-4ft that was even cleaner and better spaced.
